Thoughtfully Detailed Chevy Chase Kitchen

From outdated to extraordinary, this Chevy Chase kitchen shows how careful planning and thoughtful detailing can transform the heart of a home. The original space had good bones but was held back by an awkward cooktop in the island and dated tile countertops. To unlock the kitchen’s full potential, we completed a small addition that let us rethink the layout from the ground up and create a space that is both beautiful and built for real life.

The new design centers on a 36" Wolf range framed by a custom paneled hood and quartz backsplash with a shelf for everyday essentials. Arched white oak cabinets with glass doors and interior lighting flank the range, adding warmth and showcasing the homeowners’ favorite pieces. A spacious celadon green island, free of its old cooktop, now serves as the gathering spot for meals, homework, and entertaining, with seating for six.

The details are what make this kitchen shine. Inset cabinetry throughout is paired with unlacquered brass mesh inserts that repeat from the upper cabinets to the island and shoe cabinet. Two appliance garages with white oak interiors and integrated lighting keep the counters clear: one a morning coffee station, the other a fully stocked bar. Panel-ready refrigeration disappears into the millwork, while a farmhouse sink set against handmade tile anchors the window wall.

Overhead, a coffered ceiling adds architectural presence and a sense of polish, and underfoot, rich herringbone floors bring warmth and movement to the entire space. The result is a kitchen that feels refined, functional, and timeless.
