Touch of Modern in Northwest

This Northwest DC home had an existing addition that no longer worked for the family’s needs. In collaboration with the project architect, the original structure was removed and the residence thoughtfully reimagined, resulting in a cohesive, highly functional design that feels both tailored and timeless.

The former kitchen was transformed into a mudroom with charcoal cabinetry; stylish but with plenty of storage. The kitchen features a custom wood hood, unique windows filling the backsplash space, and Subzero/Wolf paneled appliances. The show piece of the kitchen is the stunning horizontal grained hickory island. We worked closely with the cabinet maker on the sourcing and the layout of the panels to achieve the perfect look highlighting the natural grain of the wood.

The primary shower features a main showerhead, rainhead, handheld and 6 body sprays for a true spa experience. The marble tile and floating walnut vanity cabinets complete the look.

The exterior of the addition features stucco and nickel gap Boral siding, enhancing the refined contemporary look. The classic brick home was given maybe more than just a touch of modern, the result is a home that feels both updated and beautifully unified.
